Rhythm Run Coaching 2024 Recap
As the year draws to an end, I wanted to share some personal and professional reflections from Rhythm Run Coaching. 2024 was filled with PB’s, some in races but more from coaching development. This was the year I decided to go “all-in” on coaching. After coaching as a side gig for ~5 years, I quit my full-time job and made coaching my full-time job. Some people thought I was nuts, but most people bursted with enthusiasm and support when I told them, which helped affirm my decision. It has been so rewarding to see my hard work output directly circle back to me through positive growth and affirmation.

Rewind to 2019 when I first started coaching. My friends were training for their first half marathon and asked if I would help coach them. It was successful and fun but I still never imagined doing this full-time, despite their encouragement to do so. My coaching journey grew organically from there, coaching people (usually friends or mutual friends) when they asked. I began experimenting with myself on my own training program, seeing what workouts were fun, what made a challenging workout, how to structure specific workouts at different times of different builds for different distances and surfaces. I did research by reading articles and books and listening to podcasts. I chatted to other coaches. I took courses and received certifications. And of course, I ran and I raced.
I did all this purely out of interest with the intention of trying to be a better coach to those who were on my roster and to improve my own running. The natural evolution of my coaching journey eventually brought me what is now my own business, Rhythm Run Coaching. It continues to evolve with new services being offered, new clinics being dreamed of, and of course, new athletes joining.
My goal for Rhythm Run Coaching is to create a community of athletes who are looking to get the best out of themselves through hard work and diligent training but continue to have fun and enjoy the process. I am looking forward to growing Rhythm Run Coaching more in 2025 and beyond.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all who have been involved and supported my journey so far. Thank you to my athletes, current, past, and future, for trusting me to be a part of your journey; thank you to the friends and family who have celebrated my success and transition; thank you to the folks who follow me on social media; thank you to the people who purchase swag and represent my brand; thank you. Here’s to 2025 - to chasing goals, creating community, and running our hearts out.
With love,
Coach Alison
